Heal, Cory!

July 2010 004

The only westie around The Woods...

Mama didn’t save any of his winsome photos, but our little friend Cory is having surgery today to fix his knee.  He’s a very cute Westie, and we met his mom when we were at the beach in December.  Please wish him – and his poor mom, who hasn’t been apart from him for more than a few hours since he came to live with them – well!

Edited to add – Aunt Sus felt sorry for me and sent Mama a photo of dear Cory.  Isn’t he handsome!?

[…] are Westies, but their mom has also had a few Scotties she loved well.  Be sure to pop over to the fur-girls’ blog, where Gretchen has wished our little friend (and his mom) […]

We recognize that Westie! And since we are part Westie ourselves, we will cross our paws and pray extra hard for Cory and his mom.

Cory is currently in surgery. I am sitting on pins and needles to hear back from the surgeon. Thanks for all the well wishes.

I’m sending good, healing thoughts to Cory and Susan!

Just talked to the surgeon. Cory is out of surgery and awake.

She is almost positive that the knee was related to the fall not genetic issues. The bones were fine. The kneecap went to the outside, usually when it is genetic, it goes to the inside. She checked the other knee, it seems to be fine. Just all the joints are loose. And he has hip dysplasia, which will probably cause problems as he ages.

She will call again in the morning, and I should be able to pick him up in the afternoon.

She says “he’s a feisty little thing isn’t he?” She said as long as he gets his way he is sweet as can be, but when things aren’t going his way, he lets you know!!!

Didn’t take her long to figure him out.

Thanks for everyone’s good thoughts. Keep them coming, he has a lot of healing to do. He is supposed to be on “bed rest” for EIGHT WEEKS. How many folks think I can keep an 11 month old terrier on “bed rest” for eight weeks??? 😉

Cory is home and doing well. I am laying in the floor next to the kennel. He is fairly content as long as Chelsea doesn’t sit by me. So the easiest thing to do is sit in the floor with him. In case you didn’t know already, he is VERY spoiled.

Thanks for everyone’s good wishes. Thank of us during the next 8 weeks while we try to be quiet and heal
