Instinct, anyone?

While chatting with the owner of Sammy Snacks yesterday, I learned of a non-prescriptive rabbit kibble.  Has anyone tried Instinct, in any variety?  I need to run the ingredient list past Wondervet, because it is more complex than the list for Sis’s current prescription stuff, but the nice man is willing to get me a small bag for Sis to try, the price difference is SIGNIFICANT, and he has a truck that delivers weekly, so no shipping and no waiting with baited breath, paws crossed that the next bag arrives in time.  He also has a personal relationship with the owner of THAT company, so it’s just a really cozy option… if Wondervet approves.

Sis is all for it; evidently, purple is the official accent color for rabbit kibble, but she also thinks that’s one good-looking dog on the bag.   I like it because the protein is higher than in our Royal Canin formula, and girlfriend is a HARD keeper, which is to say that we struggle to keep her from looking too thin.

I’m already planning to switch Gretchen over to the Sammy brand kibble just as soon as the salmon formula comes out of its test-only status, so one-stop shopping would be a beautiful thing.  If nothing else, the fine folks at Sammy’s have yet again proved they care about their customers – both the two-footed payers and the four-footed consumers.  Is that ever more appreciated than when it comes to our pets?!

We use EVO which is an Innova product. We have only heard good things about Instinct but have never tried it.

Dog food is just so complicated. I wish I was one of those wonder moms who had the time and mentals to feed my dog a raw diet, but I am not so I don’t. Let us know how it goes.

Seriously, you cross your paws and you have baited breath? Chan, you’ve been holding out on us. (Sorry…couldn’t help myself.) Haven’t heard of Instinct but hope you can combine your kibble purchases.

Wouldn’t that be great to get everything at one place and pay less, too. Let’s hope Wondervet gives the OK.

No clue as to the brand…we do best with IAMS, so mom mostly feeds us their “weight control” version…tho honestly, we like the full fat versions better! When mom tried some of the rather more costly, more “natural” kibbles from the new fancy pet store downtown, we had, er….soft issues….lol…I was punny!!

We fed Blue Buffalo and my dogs do really well on it. But – I’m always good with a company that is so accomodating to the buyers. g

Oh that would be wonderful… to not only pay less, but be able to get it locally and without such fanfare involved! Hope it works for Sis!

I sure hope Wondervet approves of this food! It would be great for you to be able to do all your shopping at one place for the girls…especially if the people there are so nice and caring about their customers!

Boy, we’ve missed a lot! It’s all mama’s fault, of course; she’s gotten so poky about getting around to all our blog friends. We aren’t familiar with the Instinct brand, and we have the opposite problem [must have low fat, low protein due to Abby’s chronic pancreatitis]. Mama does take The Whole Dog Journal, which does an annual issue [plus periodic updates] on high quality dog food. But you still have to do the research for your pet with special dietary needs; it just lists high quality food in general. Hope it all works out.

So sorry Gretchen is still suffering from her travel panic attacks. Hope the soothing herbal collar helps. Maybe the dosage needs to be increased?

Most happy to read Sissy had a good report from the VV!
