Proper Attire

Happy dogs on thursday to you!  Gretchen Greer here… but you probably knew that, based on the title.  Proper and attire aren’t words associated with the DIVA.

Tomorrow, June 24th, is Take Your Pet to Work Day.  Because the world is full of dogs like Sissy  pets that might not be familiar with workplace decorum, Mama suggested that I should shed a little light on the subject.

Office casual shirt dress

First things first.  Do you know what your people do?  See, Mama works in the office 99% of the time, but it’s a construction-type office, not a high-rise business place.  She has to be able to grab pipe off the rack outside or pick up a pump from a distributor, so she can’t be too done up or something will get ruined.  She never wears anything that isn’t machine-washable to work, so I don’t either.

Of course, on the off chance Mama would take me to the Junior League office with her, or to one of their parties, I could dress up a lot more…

June 2010 008But if we’re workin’ with Dadaw, we have to be ready to get dirty.  Just a simple Insectshield neckerchief to ward off the bugs and make me easier for Dadaw to see…  Not that he’s ever taken us to work with him.  I’d be a good girl and stay close, but we all know Sissy would be quite a handful and EVERYONE would be sorry before we got back to the office or home!

Then there’s Dadaw’s other job.   We do have these cute firefighter raincoats we could wear if he’d let us run calls with him…

Do you ever get to go to work with your people?   Would you know what to wear if you did?

Love this post girls – great pics to go along with the descriptions! 🙂 Zeus was able to go to work with me when he was a puppy (2 jobs ago)…. but not here. The owner brings his dog to work here, but no one else can… =(

[…] thankful thursday!  Tomorrow is Take Your Pet to Work Day, and Gretchen’s done a cute little post.   I’m lucky that the fur-girls get to come to work fairly often.  I know they’d […]

When our Mom used to work in an office, her dog Libby sometimes went with her. Libby would lie under Mom’s desk and let her know if anyone was coming into her office. Now Mom does her work, whatever that is, here at home, so we all get to stay close to her and watch her and remind her when it’s time to go out or to eat. Mom says she doesn’t need a clock because we’re all so good at telling time.

I think you are ready for any possibility, Gretchen! Great outfits 🙂

Like the Porties, our momma works at home mostly. We like that! We wouldn’t want to go to work with Dad even if we could…Hospitals smell funny. 😦

As to wearing the right thing…a good attitdue and smile are what Momma thinks works for all occasions…We’re just not as good at proper as you are GG.

How we love your firefighter jackets!!! We have never gotten to go to work and we ARE a working breed – sheesh. But you know we don’t wear clothes, maybe we could consider a doggy backpack.

Your firefighter raincoats are just awesome! Our mom and dad are home all the time and as the supervisors most of the time, we never have to get dressed up!

    Love ya lots,

    Cute post!

The firecoats look like little devil costumes. I need to find them proper fire coats! Little Miss gg – where are your party dresses? How come we didn’t get to see those modeled?

You are perfect angel – it’s so not fair that Sissy ruins things for you – like going to work with Dadaw. g

We actually checked in to read Sissy’s application for a date with Mango. Maybe you’re posting it at midnight? We enjoyed Gretchen’s work attire fashion show. Mama’s mostly home now, but on the rare occasions she still goes to court, there’s this ridiculous prejudice if you’re not a certified service dog – unless, of course, you’re a bomb sniffing four-legged government employee.
