New digs

May 30, 2014

Happy Thorsday!  Mama is neglecting us woefully, but in all fairness, she’s typing for us while using her phone as a hotspot because our house was attacked by lightning yesterday and… that’s what she has to do to be online.

UntitledWe thought you might enjoy some glimpses at our new walking path.  Mama says it is an old racetrack, as in… horses used to run in circles on purpose there.  It’s kinda’ cool; it’s shaded and nearly wooded on one end and a pretty field on the other.  Mama always points out where the sand the horses ran on is still obvious – duh?!  It’s not the same as beach sand!

Mama says there are wild berry – she thinks blackberries – bushes everywhere.  Do you think the firefighters will come help us pick when they’re ripe?  I – Gretchen Greer – hate blueberries.  Will I like blackberries?  Mama says no, but there was also something about “more for me” in her reply…

Our yard is RICH with clover.  We like clover.  Dadaw calls it a weed and says it’s ruining the lawn.  What do you think?

Sissy has her regularly scheduled eye appointment in a couple of days, so stay tuned for an update!

Wild about Wild Cravings

April 10, 2014

UntitledBecause Mama gets more traffic than we do (what’s up with that?!), OUR Chewy goodies have to be blogged there, but we wanted to tell you about the review.  It’s good stuff.

We’re happy to report that we are getting regular walkies.  SHE missed Monday, but it was pouring rain, so … add in the long mid-week run this evening, and all is forgiven.

Happy Thorsday!

Have you seen spring?

March 13, 2014

UntitledHappy Thorsday!  We had Spring, almost Summer even, earlier this week, but it wandered off.  Have you seen it?

No, we don’t have snow again, but there’s a rumor we’ll get more in a few days.  Anything would be better than the cold winds we had today!  These photos were taken earlier this month.  Mama keeps saying she’s not sure why people are so shocked when it snows in March; some of the deepest snows have come in March and even into early April.  We think they must be shocked because snow is winter, and March welcomes spring… one week from today, actually.

UntitledWe’re going to keep looking for spring.  How’s your weather?

Let Us Eat Cake

March 8, 2014

Another Thorsday missed, but at least this time, it was for a good cause.

Lest you think Mama finally has her priorities in order, the woman who neglects us for the League’s sake also made Moggie have a board meeting on her birthday.  At least the cake was cute and it honored Ellie, Moggie’s sweet pup who was surely missing her Thorsday night too.  (Don’t give Mama too much credit; she merely asked another dog-lover, League, baker-friend to make cupcakes for the meeting, and the clever, creative Miss Shannon took it from there.)

Sweet EllieSee?  That’s Ellie and her  mom at another board meeting, obviously one where the weather was MUCH warmer.  I – Gretchen Greer – got to go to a board meeting last year, but didn’t enjoy it too much.  Because of Sissy’s food allergies and that whole being a hound (read: no self-control when it comes to food) thing, she hasn’t been able to go visit the nice ladies.  Plus, who wants slobber-gobbers on their legs?!  (No offense, Sis…)

The good news is, the board showered Miss Moggie with gifts.  As the incoming president, she now has a leadership slate, a budget (cough, cough… a smaller budget than this year’s… which was more than tight enough… not much of a gift if you ask me, but no one did), spiffed up bylaws and policies, AND a brand-new strategic plan.  That one isn’t much of a gift either, because guess what Mama assigned Miss M as her special project for this year?  Yeah.  The dang StratPlan.  Maybe Mama doesn’t give such good gifts to her friends after all, but the cake was cute, and Dadaw let us have a bite, since Miss Moggie sent us  him a couple of cupcakes!

Do your people give better gifts than Mama and her board friends?!

The Other Dog…

March 2, 2014

We have been woefully neglected the past week.  No Thorsday post.  Missed walkies.  We are even out of yogurt for our breakfast.  (Really Mama?!  White rice is not a breakfast food here in our part of the world.  Get it together.  We do like eggs…)

1517495_10101378445755466_1359574843_nBut, we – er, I… Gretchen Greer anyway – are trying to be understanding, because it was all for a good cause.  Mama’s girl group had a big rummage sale (it made us nervous when she bagged up her own donations… seemed too much like packing for a trip to us!) to pad their community programs coffers.  We even donated some of our like-new coats and sweaters, and Mama reports that all pet items were sold by the time she arrived, so I guess we’ll have to be more generous next year.

However, to her credit, at least the event had the word “dog” in the name, PANK on the signage, and it was for a good cause.  And the woman did rush home after clean-up and take us for a quick 4-mile jaunt.  Sissy was a little put-out that we didn’t run, and Mama kept cranking something about being so tired…

Oh — and Miss Cupcake, the chair of the PANK and Dog event and a great dog-lover, did send us the leftover baby carrots from yesterday’s catered lunch.  Licks and love for Miss Cupcake!!

Hope she rested up overnight, because today is supposed to be cloudy but warm, and the woods are calling.

How do you deal with it when YOUR humans mess up your schedule?!

TV Dogs

February 6, 2014

A very rare Sissy using Gg as furniture moment

Did you see all the dogs over the weekend!?  There was the mouthy (normal!) basset hound pup at the end of the Puppy Bowl commercial, the yellow dog family in the Subaru commercial (Dadaw’s favorite), more yellow dogs in the Budweiser commercial, and the pawsome Mastiff in the Doritos fan-made commercial.

Was your breed represented?  Personally, I’m – Gretchen Greer – still looking for the Jack Russell.  Mama says there have been so many famous JRTs that I can’t fuss but…  I am.  Of course, Mama’s post is all about cute terriers in books she’s been reading, but that’s not the same as being on TV!

On the Go

January 23, 2014

UntitledWe’ve been on the go.  Well, not the past two days because of the snow, but before that…

On Monday, Dadaw took me – Gretchen Greer – to the vet for my annual visit stuff.  Since I’m at the keyboard, all you need to know is that they’re starving me and the vet doesn’t see how someone who runs 20+ miles a week could GAIN weight.  Hellloooo?!  Muscle weighs more than fat, right?

We wish you a happy thorsday, and maybe normal blogging will resume soon.

The Most Wooferful Time

December 13, 2013

My first Christmas 2008

Gretchen Greer here.  Happy Thorsday!  I’d like to know what’s so wonderful about this time of year.  Do you get it?  The humans put on their fancy clothes and ditch us more than usual, and there are extra boxes arriving all the time and rarely are they for us.  Hrmph.  Add in ridiculously cold, wet weather…  walks are shorter…  Where’s the wooferfulness of the season?

At least our friends at remembered us.  It’s fun getting packages in the mail.  We wish you some happy packages just for you!

Gobble, Gobble!

November 28, 2013

UntitledHappy Thorsday and Thanksgiving!  We can’t have turkey – Sissy’s allergic – but we’re still celebrating – with fresh blueberries and Banilla yogurt.

Do you get to count your blessings with your people today?  We’re thankful for walks – even if we haven’t had one since Monday – and Sissy-friendly kibble, Mama and Dadaw, and each of you!  Thanks for being our friends.

Enjoy whatever you do today!

Do you PJ?

November 21, 2013

August 2013 005Gretchen Greer here!  Happy Thorsday.  I have a rather personal question for you – the other thin-coated dogs out there.

Do you wear pajamas?  See, I won’t give names and tails – or tales – but a friend wears jammies to bed when it’s cold outside, and her human suggested I might should too, so that I’m not too cold to run outside and potty in the morning.  We’re lucky enough to have a doggy door, so I hate to bother Mama when she’s trying to get ready for work, and then there are the times Sissy the double-coated, never cold DIVA gives a shout out and I NEED to race right out, weather be darned…

What say you?  I do snuggle up close with Mama *IN* the bed at night, so she worries I’d get too hot.  Clearly, we need advice, because she won’t let me wear my pretty Auntie Sus scarf all the time.  In fact, the woman – Mama – wore it herself today!!  Auuuuunnnntttiiiiiiie Sus!!!  Do I HAVE to share?!
